Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) is located in Guseong-dong, Yuseong-gu and is surrounded by Gajeong-dong, Eoeun-dong and Sinseong-dong. The neighborhood around KAIST has some excellent restaurants and cafes for students and adults as well as many museums and research institutes.

Museums around KAIST

The National Science Museum 국립중앙과학관 國立中央科學館 is located in Guseong-dong.

The Currency Museum 화폐박물관 貨幣博物館 is located in Gajeong-dong. This museum shows the history of not only Korean but also foreign currency.

The Geology Museum 지질박물관 地質博物館, located in Gajeong-dong, exhibits thousands of different kinds of minerals, rocks, fossils, dinosaurs and more.

Parks around KAIST

Sinseong Park is located in Sinseong-dong near the Daejeon Observatory.

Maebong Mountain Park is in Gajeong-dong.

Research Institutes around KAIST

Korea Institute of Geoscience & Mineral Resources (KIGAM), located in Gajeong-dong, covers diverse fields in geoscience, including geological mapping and mineral exploration, mineral utilization, groundwater evaluation and the treatment of contamination.

Daejeon Regional Meteorological Administration is located in Guseong-dong, near the Daejeon Institute of Health & Environment. The Daejeon Regional Meteorological Administration reports the weather of not only Daejeon Meteropolitan City, but also Incheon Metropolitan City, Gyeonggi-do, northern and southern Chungcheong-do, and the seas surrounding Korea for the safety of the people.

Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) is located in Guseong-dong. KINS works on formulating, standardizing and promulgating Korea's nuclear safety policy. KINS also works on promoting the nuclear safety culture proposed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Daejeon Metropolitan City Institute of Health & Environment, located in Guseong-dong, researches about various subjects covering healtn and environment, such as food, medical supplies, epidemics and the atmosphere.

Korea Ginseng & Tobacco Research Institute is located in Sinseong-dong. This institute researches about the properties and uses of ginseng, as well as the cultivation and manufacturing of ginseng and tobacco.

Daejeon Observatory in Sinseong-dong is the only observatory in Korea open to the public and is free to all.

Korean Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB) researches on topics regarding bioscience and biotechnology and is located in Eoeun-dong.

Korean Basic Science Research Institute (KBSI) is also located in Eoeun-dong. KBSI works for the development of basic science.

Chungnam National University (CNU) College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is a school for students working to deliver the best agriculture and life sciences scientific technique through research and education. The CNU College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is located in Eoeung-dong.
